Listen to ‘Year of the Snake’ here!

Lilly Bechtel is a musician, poet and trauma-informed yoga instructor with 15 years of experience offering creative mindfulness workshops. Her poetry and non-fiction has appeared in Poetry, elephant journal, Barrow Street Journal, and The Brooklyn Rail, among others, and her work and music has been noted in The New York Times and featured on NPR.

Music writer Robb Donker writes of the 2021 Night Teacher single ‘Even When It’s Bent’: “Bechtel's vocal aesthetic works perfectly as a storyteller; there is at once a sage presence in her powerful lilt, but it is also one that feels broken- as hopelessness and hope play a fierce game of tug of war." In a time when so many of us are seeking what power might emerge from grief, Lilly’s music thrives inside that question, that ‘fierce tug of war’ between hope and hopelessness, exploring what beauty may be drawn from shadow, and what melodies might be sung only after it doesn’t all work out.

Lilly’s practice as an artist, as well as her professional training and background as a teacher, enriches her ability to support others in moving through their shadows and find their way towards greater roundedness and healing.
